Careers
Although the National Curriculum for the UK contains no specific standardised frameworks or programmes of study, it does advise that all schools should develop their own lessons as an important part of children’s education.
At Mill Lane, we identify careers that are linked to our learning in all year groups and often as part of financial and social topics within PSHE lessons. Children start to think about careers even in our Early Years Foundation Stage and beyond. When they watch shows on TV or see their favourite singer perform, they often have an idea that they might like to do something similar when they grow up. Even if they change their mind, at Mill Lane, we believe it’s great to encourage this ambition in children.
