Parent Support Advisor

Julie Cole

My role as a Parent Support Advisor (PSA) involves working with schools, pupils and families to resolve issues of poor attendance.  I overcome barriers to learning to help parents support their children’s learning.  At Mill Lane Primary I can help to sign post you to other outside agencies that work alongside school.  I can support you with behaviour and routines.  I provide an emotional support for both children and adults.  I regularly complete home visits for new starters and families who need my support.

As a PSA I have vast experience from having my own four daughters, and I now have four grandchildren. I returned to college after having my children and gained a degree in Criminology in 1995.

I have since worked within education, children’s services and housing. My previous job role was working with attendance. I worked with parents and pupils to ensure they attend regularly and receive the best possible education.

I worked for 10 years within all 58 schools in Redcar & Cleveland, as a Family Support Worker, helping parents with lots of issues including housing, benefits, health and supporting parents with their children’s behaviour. I am trained in Positive Parenting and help parents to use the strategies school use within the home.

I am so happy to be part of the Mill Lane team to support your child through their primary years.  I look forward to many happy years at Mill Lane, nurturing the children to be the best they can be, and the same for parents.
