Family Learning
Courses in school
Family Learning is run by Stockton Council Learning and Skills. The courses they offer are free to all parents and can be held each term in school. Mill Lane has also run workshops focusing on parents helping their children to learn how to read. This involved making activities and games in school based on a story and taking them home to share with their children.
Family Learning also run courses to help develop and support parents with reading with their children. Parents of key stage one children get 3 free books and activities to play.
For Key Stage Two, Family Learning are offering new courses in September 2016 to teach parents to support their children in computer coding, which teaches basic skills to parents. They also provide courses in arts and crafts, gardening, cookery and family budgeting.
