Summer Carnival 2016

Mill Lane’s summer carnival was a great success. To celebrate our diverse, multicultural school community the theme of our event was “All Around the World”. The children and staff worked very hard to paint and decorate the school with the flags from many different nations. Our afternoon started with performances including whole school zumba dancing, Glee club, Nursery singing Happy Birthday to the Queen, Y1 Bollywood dancing, Y3 country dancing and Reception singing, and they were concluded with a bang by our school samba band! Parents, children and community members enjoyed visiting the stalls, which ranged from cake sales to Splat the Rat. Our most popular activity involved throwing sponges at Mr Lee and Mr Lymer who were brave enough to volunteer for the stocks! We had a special visit from Anna and Elsa from Frozen who loved having their pictures taken with all of the children. Our bouncy castle and face painting were enjoyed by children and staff as well. In total the school raised an amazing £847!! Thank you to everyone in the community who donated prizes for our tombola and games, and to the children and staff of Mill Lane for all of their hard work and dedication. We can’t wait for next year’s celebration event!
